Environmental Control

Environmental control plays a major aspect in growing plants indoors. Providing enough light for most plants to grow is quite simple, enabling the plants to use this light becomes more complicated. Ambient temperature greatly affects plant growth and development, insufficient heat can cause plants to grow extremely slowly, completely stop root development, mutate appearance, damage cells, and eventually lead to death. When temperatures are too hot, plants become leggy, cell turgidity is reduced, and overall health of the plant declines eventually leading to death. Temperature tolerances are both crop dependent and dependent on the relative humidity as the relationship between temperature and humidity is called Vapour Pressure Deficit (VPD) and greatly influences photosynthesis and nutrient uptake.
Utilising environmental control equipment allows growers to optimise growing conditions to suit their crop. Unsure on how to achieve the perfect environment in your plants? Contact us or see us in store and we’ll help you achieve the perfect microclimate.
